THE PATRIARCH ABRAHAM

God Almighty is the one that controls everything in the whole universe. We believers think that God is the one that is supposed to listen to whatever we command Him through prayer. We abuse and misuse prayer for the wrong reasons and out of the will of God Almighty.

When God spoke to Abraham, at first he was called Abram then God changed his name to Abraham, The Father of us all; He promised him a seed, even a son of his own:

But it took 25 years for God to fulfill his promise to his faithful servant Abraham. At the time God made this promise to Abraham he was just 75 years old. But he had a son by the age of 100 years. It was the will of God for Abraham to receive the gift of a baby at that particular time even at the age of 100 years, thus 25 years later. This is the hard truth of the matter that people of today do not want to face and admit -- Gods ways are not our ways and His thoughts are far above our thoughts.

He even said it Himself by the hand of Prophet Isaiah that;

God does what pleases Him. He does not ask anyone permission when He wants to do something!

We live in a world where everything this nowadays is fast, a fast lifestyle; for example, fast food, fast cars, fast internet etc. Everyone is not ready to slow down! But it turns out that in the Kingdom of God things don't work that way and not according to the fashion of this world. This is one of the reasons why many fail to understand when their prayers are not answered or delaying, assuming that God did not hear them or wants them to do something first for their request to be granted.

Sometimes it is required of us to do something or take some kind of action for God to intervene, but often times it is not so. Patience is what we really lack. And you might realize most of the times after we have prayed we need to believe that it is already done by faith, and wait patiently for it to come to pass. And it is also vital to do corresponding actions, but be careful not to find yourself working against God and assuming wrong things, and acting when you were supposed to just wait the Lord.

God is not deaf or blind, He is all-knowing, omniscient and omnipotent. He has limitless power to do impossibilities. His hand is not shortened to reach anyone or supply for all of us. Many neglect the fact that God: firstly, is not going to do anyone's will but His; and secondly, that, God will answer at His own time and not even on our terms.

Abraham tried to do something that resulted in the birth of Ishmael. Many would try to justify Abraham by saying that it was not his idea but he was forced by his wife. We all know that Abraham had a choice, either to trust God further at His word or compromise just like Adam did in the Garden of Eden. And then ending up blaming the wife for what he has done willingly. I know that when things seem to delay we end up making our own Ishmael to remedy the difficult situations that we face, and the end results of all that is heartbreaking, unbearable and painfully. And when we are in trouble we start by blaming others and then blame God as well, as if He is the one who commanded us to get into this mess that we find ourselves in, trapped and in desperate need of help, in the first place!ߑ͍

So, despite all our carnal attempts it is clear that God is not going to even try to think about changing His mind, let alone change His time. Whether Abraham believed God further or not, God is not a lair, once He has promised you something you shall receive it in the name of Jesus Christ! Even if it means God has to drag you out of your own mess!

PRIEST ZACHARIAS

Well, there was an old priest in the times before the birth of Prophet John and our Lord Christ Jesus. Actually this old man is in fact the father of Prophet John The Baptist, the one who's voice cries in the wilderness.... It took him many years with his wife Elisabeth to be blessed with a child. They were of the tribe of Levi, a tribe chosen by God to serve Him at the Priesthood Office.

Were they praying or did they ask God for a baby? Of course, he and his wife prayed earnestly to God always. In fact, Priest Zachariah was ministering in the Holy Temple at Jerusalem, on the "golden altar" or "incense altar"; where incense of sweet smelling savour had to be burned to make an incense aroma that prophetically represented "prayer". In other words, he was not only praying with his own words by mouth but also demonstrating Prophetically, symbolizing prayer towards God Almighty. Or rather you can say it was Faith with Works, James 2:24, prayer with incense.

But God chose to take his time, thus Priest Zachariah and Elisabeth were childless almost their entire life. We are not talking about 10, 40 or even 70 years, more than that! They reached a situation were it was impossible for them to have a child -- the situation was completely hopeless! Their bodies were old and worn out.

Many would not even have lasted for 3 months in marriage that has no fruit of a child. Or just like Abraham and his wife, they would have diligently sought for other alternatives of getting a baby, another Ishmael again, even if it meant to going to the extremes of doing abomination and getting involved in occultic things of the devil. We make our own backup plans in case God God does not answer or seems to delay. Many lives have been destroyed because of these things, and we need to trust and wait on God because your life might depend on it. In fact it does..if we would just be aware how important it is to stay in your position until God comes to you, because If not things can end up being a disaster and going in the wrong direction! Some mistakes cannot be corrected, they might haunt you all your life by regretting that you should have trusted God waited a little bit, but it would be too late...!

But despite all those years, many many years, God in the end ended up blessing Priest Zachariah and his wife with a healthy baby, therefore fulfilling the promise He made through His Angel. But at His Own appointed time He had set not men. And, behold, that baby became a mighty Prophet that baptized God in the flesh, Emmanuel, that is Christ Himself, hallelujah!

faithful HANNAH

Last but not least is the inspiring st story of Hannah, the mother of Prophet Sammuel. If you have read the book of 1 Sammuel, from chapter 1 and 2, you might assume that Hannah prayed few times or once, then God immediately answered her petition.

But I am afraid to tell you that it was not so!

As the scripture says, "...she did so year after year, when she went up to the house of the Lord...." (1 Sam. 1:7), she was praying earnestly to God for to bless her with a boy child. On the other hand the scripture even reveals that it was God who closed the womb of Hannah not to have children.

Some would think it was the Devil, but it was Him, the scripture says clearly that it was God Himself! To some this might be a shock to them because they cannot think that God can withhold something to a person that is whole hardheartedly faithful and trust in Him...I know it sounds like the devils deed and character when one things of praying year after year about the same thing over and over. This woman really had a very strong faith, the one that would please Christ if He were still on the Earth at that time!

Remember, God is the one who is in complete control of everything not the devil or anyone if I might add. As long as God's purposes and destined-times were not fulfilled or came to pass, Hannah would have prayed until the day she died without a single child. Why, you ask? Simply because God has mercy on whom He has mercy, and will have compassion on whom He will have compassion!

Apostle Paul boldly says it clearly than i can express it:

Nevertheless, God had mercy on her faithful daughter and blessed her with a healthy baby boy, who grew up to become one of the mighty Prophets in the bible and that lived in the world! But all that come to pass at the time destined only by God, not because God grow tired of the prayers of Hannah but because His will was to bless Hannah at a set time; and God made sure that Hannah does not give birth to her own Ishmael just like Sarah (by her Egyptian handmaid) -- God was not joking about His set-time , purpose and will.

GOD'S TIMING

By now we can conclude that it is clear that God does what He wants whenever He wants. Prayers, fasting or many other things do not force God to do anything, it is only dependant on God's mercy, purposes, time and will.

In the whole of Ecclesiastes chpt. 3, it reveals that everything has a time and season. But it is only God that Has power to determine the times and seasons, and has the power to change them at will and at anytime; without asking or consulting anyone. Besides He is what He is, The Great I AM, Lord GOD of Hosts, YAHWEH!

So, as the scripture says, "so then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy." Let us ask the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, especially the Fruit of Patience; and the Grace to wait on the LORD for anything in our lives, no matter how minor or big it may be. We have to be faithful, to pray without giving up and wait upon God to answer us at His own time, even if it takes years.

The enemy, the Devil and demons, will tempt, persecute or do many evil things to you. But know that God is the One that wins at the end, whether the Devil likes it or not! Whatever God promises or has said, in His Word the Bible or through prophecy, dreams or any other means possible God spoke to you; believe that it shall surely come to pass, Amen! And will definitely come to pass no matter what you are experiencing in your life or have experienced in your past life -- God is greater than any problem or mountain you face in your life!

Be courageous, and strong in the Lord, Ephessians 6:10, and abide in Him just like these faithful believers: Abraham and Sarah, Zacharias and Elisabeth and lastly Hannah who trusted wholly in God and never wavered on God's promises!

Grace ,which is also mercy, is all you need in your life to persevere.

May the grace, peace and the love of God be with all of us and give us His Spirit to bear fruits, in Christ Jesus Mighty Name, Amen and Amen!
