The main biblical passage that speaks of “the great red dragon” is found in the Book of Revelation:

This vision given to John reveals not a literal monster, but a symbolic picture of Satan’s power, cruelty, and influence.

The color red represents blood, violence, and destruction. Satan has been a murderer from the beginning (John 8:44), and his goal has always been to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10)!

While on the other hand, the seven heads and ten horns symbolize authority and dominion.

...This really means that the Devil is packed with some serious power, after all he is the supreme ruler of the kingdom of Darkness: all the fallen-angels and demonic-beings worship and serve him!

Furthermore, it means that Satan’s influence stretches across nations, governments, and systems of the entire world: he manipulates rulers, twists justice, and fuels wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).

We are not talking about some kind of any creature, here we are dealing with one the strongest beings God Almighty ever created! Believe it or not, he is God's best creation - His grand master piece!

...But unfortunately Satan fell from his glory and disappointed his creator greatly; that God ended up judging, cursing and condemning him forever!

The crowns upon his heads show how he pretends to rule and reign—but his kingdom is built on lies and rebellion against God, his creator, what a shame!

Before he became Satan, the dragon was known as Lucifer, meaning “light-bearer.” He was once an angel of great beauty and wisdom.

However, his pride caused him to rebel against God.

Lucifer desired, with all his heart, to exalt himself above the throne of God!

That pride transformed him from a glorious angel into the adversary—Satan, the enemy of righteousness. He was cast out of heaven along with one-third of the angels who followed him (Revelation 12:4). These fallen angels became the demonic forces that still operate under his command today.

The transformation from a shining angel to a red dragon reveals how sin corrupts beauty, wisdom, and power.

Pride (is an evil spirit) turned light(pure-great light) into darkness (defilement and abomination) and glory (glory of the Lord) into shame!

Revelation 12 describes a powerful vision: the red dragon tries to devour a woman’s child as soon as it is born. The woman represents Israel, and the child symbolizes Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.

From the time of Herod’s, and even from the time that God Almighty judged and prophesied about the "seed of the women" crashing his head; he attempted to kill baby Jesus: Satan has been fighting against God’s plan of salvation ever since!

When Christ died and rose again, He defeated the dragon once and for all—but Satan still continues his war against the saints (that is, against all Christians)!

He uses temptation, persecution, false doctrine, and fear to attack believers. And the bad news is that it has been working ever since, even today as we speak! However, Revelation 12:11 gives believers a victorious key:

No matter how fierce the battle becomes, the blood of Jesus Christ remains our weapon of victory, hallelujah!

Satan cannot overcome the one who stands firm in Christ and walks in obedience to the Word of God. We as believe should live and walk in the great power of the Lord!

Although many view Satan as a symbol or myth, his influence is evident everywhere (as many, I am afraid, they are still spiritually blind and carnal).

The red dragon’s fingerprints can be seen in wars, corruption, hatred, immorality, and the growing rebellion against truth.

He deceives people into calling evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20). He whispers lies through culture, entertainment, and even false religion. Many have unknowingly aligned themselves with his dark agenda, living as slaves to sin and pride.

But the good news is this: Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). Every believer who walks in faith, prayer, and holiness carries the authority to resist the dragon’s deception!

The Name of "Jesus Christ", our Lord and Saviour, is more powerful than any force of darkness; and Lucifer knows he is powerless, and there is nothing he can do when it comes to it, glory be to God!

Victory belongs to the Christians and saints of God, but that does not mean that the Devil is just going to let us win just like that, no he will not go down without a fight of his life!

It is clear by now that the story of Satan will not end in victory for him, never! The book of Revelation gives a clear picture of his final defeat:

No matter how powerful Satan may appear now (but do not forget that he is still very powerful), his destiny is sealed...

The red dragon will be destroyed forever: those who stand with Christ Jesus "ONLY" will share in His triumph and live eternally in the presence of God Almighty!

The image of Satan as the red dragon (as illustrated on the cover of this article above) is not meant to frighten believers but to open our eyes to the spiritual reality around us. The spiritual is real, demons are real, Satan is real, and even Hell is real!

This world is a battlefield between light (Christ's Kingdom) and darkness (Satan's Kingdom), truth (Jesus is the Truth) and deception (Satan is the Deceiver and Accuser)... Yet despite all that, we are certainly not helpless!

But remember one thing that those who are not helpless are only the Christians, because they believe in the Lord Jesus Christ... And if you have not yet received the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour now is your chance, read this simple step by step on how to be saved and be the son of God (and join that family of believers).

I am afraid for those that are still working in darkness and have not yet be saved; Satan is doing all he can to make sure that they do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Through the power of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have already been given victory, hallelujah! The dragon’s roar may sound terrifying, but he is a defeated enemy. His power is limited, and his time is short.

Therefore, we must stay alert, rooted in Scripture, and clothed in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:11).

Every time you resist temptation, every time you stand for truth, and every time you proclaim the Gospel, you remind the dragon that he has lost. The red dragon may rage, but the Lion of Judah reigns forever, glory be unto God Almighty!
