1. The Impossible Standard of Righteousness
The average believer knows that God Almighty require righteousness because He is Holy and Righteous. But we fail a lot when it come to what it means to be righteous; in fact they are many definitions as they are many denominations out there in the world that teach different ways and methods about righteousness (and holiness).
We must first understand the true meaning of righteousness. It is not simply being "nice" or better than one's neighbor; it is a state of absolute moral perfection—the state of being fully acceptable and innocent before a perfectly holy God.
As hard as it is to many christians, the truth is, the Bible is very clear that this standard is unattainable through human effort.
In fact, any righteousness we attempt to manufacture is considered utterly worthless in God’s sight. The Prophet Isaiah declared a harsh truth about our best efforts, he says:
6. But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6
This dramatic image tells us that even our finest, most sincere acts of goodness are polluted by our inherent sinfulness and cannot stand before God's majesty.
One thing that I have learned about the believers of today, is that mankind just love doing works (which are dead works to God of course) to feel good (the feeling comes from the pride of the flesh) that the have done something good (and sometimes bad just like Saul when he persecuted the Body of Christ) for God...
They just cannot help themselves, that is why people tend to hear religion more than the simple words of the Holy scriptures (and it has long been there and written on the Bible long before they twisted it to suit their desires)!
... And the problem about this matter is way deeper than we think; religion has really caused damage in the Body of Christ in the name of righteousness and holiness, God have mercy!
Therefore, trying to be good, in the sense of earning God's approval, is a completely futile endeavor. This impossible standard sets the stage for the glorious intervention of grace.
2. Righteousness is a Gift, Not a Wage
The central, liberating truth of the Gospel is that God provides the very thing He demands. Since man cannot produce righteousness, God imputes it—He credits it to us—through faith in Jesus Christ, hallelujah!
On the other hand, many believers are in the business of making a business in the Church with false teaching about righteousness, demonic doctrines from Hell, and trapping people to believe that they can please God with their goods deeds; when in fact God only sees a group of vipers dressed in filthy rags!
This is very very important that believers need, I repeat again, they NEED to UNDERSTAND and DEPEND fully on the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD of God instead of chasing the wind: that leads to destruction, hating God or having a bad eye against God, and many other painful things that believers have entangled themselves in; simply because they want other people to read and teach them the Bible as they are lazy!
The word of God is simple and very clear-but the average believer does not want to study God's Word and learn from it the truth for themselves. Many false prophets have invaded the Church in great numbers, and they are making a lot of money and wealth by twisting God's word and deceiving the sheep of the Lord!...
The Apostle Paul forcefully confronts the "works versus grace" tension in his letter to the Romans. He makes it clear that justification, or being declared righteous, is not achieved by adhering to the law.
3:28. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
11:6. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
3:5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Romans 3:28, 11:6 & Titus 3:5
The moment a person places their full trust in Christ, that individual receives a profound exchange: their sin is placed upon Christ, and Christ's perfect righteousness is placed upon them (that is the power of the finished works of Christ Jesus).
This righteousness is not earned; it is received. It is a gift. Romans 5:17 calls this "the gift of righteousness," stressing its nature as something freely given, not something labored for.
17. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17
Therefore, One must stop trying to earn it and simply start receiving it-God it the one giving you not man and you cannot get it from men or by your means and yourself, hallelujah!
3. Holiness: The Fruit of Righteousness
Some may fear that if we stop striving, we shall simply surrender to sin (our are no alone). This fear misunderstands the relationship between righteousness (the root) and holiness (the fruit).
Righteousness is our position before God—it is perfect and instantaneous the moment we believe.
Holiness is our practice in life—it is the ongoing process of being made more like Christ.
When we are made righteous through faith, we receive the Holy Spirit, who dwells within us. This Spirit is the true engine of our transformation. The effort to live a good life now stems not from the fear of punishment or the desire to earn approval, but from a powerful, internal gratitude and the enabling power of the Spirit. As Philippians 2:13 states, God works in the believer:
13. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13
Our good works do not precede salvation to earn it, nor do they maintain salvation.
They are the natural result and evidence of a life already transformed by grace. Holiness is the beautiful, non-negotiable consequence of having been made righteous. We are not good so that we can be saved; we are saved so that we can genuinely begin to live good lives, motivated by love, not legalism.
May the Lord help us to understand this powerful message of His Word of Grace, in Jesus Mighty Name!
It Is Only Possible By The Grace Of God Not By Your Good Deeds
There are many things that we have not touched that would require books just to scratch the surface. Believers are on the wrong side of the grace of God; in other words they are trying to do what Christ has accomplished for them and made available for all of us to freely receive as His gift to anyone that believes in His Holy Son and His Name!
IT IS TIME TO STOP REINVENTING THE WHEEL AND TRYING TO DO GOOD IN ORDER TO WIN THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD! Only Christ Jesus, the Son of the living God, is the ONLY ONE that can make us Righteous, Justified, and Holy by His precious Blood, full stop!
We can finally step off the weary treadmill of self-effort. The Christian life is not about endlessly trying to meet a standard we could never attain (many have tried and failed, THEY WILL NEVER MEET THE STANDARDS OF GOD THAT WAY); it is about resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Your attempts to be good, while well-intentioned, were always inadequate. What your are actually doing is you are rejecting what the Lord Jesus has done for mankind, and you are saying that the Blood of Jesus Christ has no power to make one righteous and Holy-you are actually saying "GOD MY WAY IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT OF JESUS...!"
Instead, accept the gift of perfect righteousness offered through faith alone! Glory Be unto the Most High God!
Embrace this truth: you are already declared righteous by the King of Glory, not because of what you have done, but because of what Christ has done for you. Allow the Holy Spirit, whom you received by grace, to work out true holiness in your daily living.
The tension between works and grace dissolves when we understand that grace is the sole source, and works are the natural overflow.
Release the pressure of performance and step into the boundless freedom of the Gospel—a life where your goodness is not a goal to be achieved, but a divine reality already possessed.
The Great King is coming ONLY for those that have accepted His Gift and live by the Power of His Spirit, in the Name Of Jesus Christ-stop trying to be good-start preparing yourself for His coming. Behold, He is at the door ready to call the Righteous and Holy Church, God bless, Amen and Amen!
